Laurens Glass Works became one of the most
successful glass houses of the American South. Opened in 1911, the factory did not become
fully productive until 1913. Laurens specialized in soda bottles, and, when it became one of the
plants manufacturing bottles between 1917 and 1919, its future was
assured. The firm expanded to Henderson, North Carolina, in 1959 and to Ruston, Louisiana,
soon thereafter.
